Heat's Turning up in VEGAS, Coolest AC for 240? 200

Highs in the low '80 here in Las Vegas today remind me that my 87 240 wagon will need to have the a/c fixed pretty soon. I need a conversion and a new compressor (at least). Just wondering if anyone has any specific advice that would allow me to get the COLDEST a/c possible from this vehicle? My mechanic said something about using a compressor from a 720 turbo, but cautioned that even in the best case scenario, the a/c would only be worthwhile up to about 95-100 degrees. Unfortunately, it hovers well above the 100's here many days during the summer and I'm *hoping* for better a/c performance. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciately.
John
