Different Euro-US lens model headlight 240/1991 ??? 200 1991

I recently bought a replacement lens for my 1991 240 from FCP Groton. The lens is listed on their site as being an "aftermarket" plastic replacement for models from 86 to 93. Well surprisingly it doesn't fit... It's about 3-5 cm deeper than it should be so it kinda comes out in a hideous way, even though the height and width are good (actually they fit with a very small gap). My car is a non-US model since I live in Europe but as far as i've seen in the pictures the 86-93 models look alike. As far as I can tell from looking at other Volvos on the street this lens should fit the pre '86 european model (the "nosy" one). Does anyone know if the US models had different headlights than the European ones or if this is a mistake from FCP Groton and I should return the part and ask for a different one?
I also bought both turn signal lenses and these seem to fit - not perfectly as the old lens did but the screw holes fit so I think I can trick them into place with a little sanitary silicone.
Is it possible that this could be a manufacturer error???? I noticed that both the headlight lens and the turn signal lenses are not marked with a country of manufacturing or a brand name just a small sign with something that looks like the greek letter Theta, an O cut in half by an I. Has anyone tried these replacements and can tell me if they worked ????

Thanks.
