960 fuel loss 900

A road trip delivered 26 mmg. Now , in town, I'm getting only 12mpg and a
smell of gasoline at the rear of the car. Last year the fuel rail was leaking and replaced. OK now. What can leak underneath?
A visual checkj revealed nothing. Help.
