Foglamp Woes; Still Dark Out There 200 1986

Hi, everybody, particularly rhaire and Don Foster. If you gentlemen are reading, I'd love to hear from you! I believe you are the legends of lighting...

I recently acquired (thanks, Bob!) the OEM Bosch foglamps for me '86 240 DL. I cannot get them to light, despite two brand-new bulbs @ $9 each. First, I tried on the bench using a 12-volt power supply; nothing, except the voltmeter fell to zero!! I switched the leads; same zero reading. Thought perhaps I needed the relay, so I hooked them up to the car's original foglamp wiring, which worked fine last summer. I energized everything: key in position one, headlight switch, OEM fog switch; only the headlights and the indicator in the fog switch came on. My heartbreak was complete.

The silly, shattered little blue ones, installed by previous owner, worked fine with the existing wires and switch. I've reviewed every book I own for a diagram or a picture, to be sure they are correct, and neither one is available. I'm obviously missing something else, too! Does anyone have a new idea? Thanks for reading, and assisting if you can... Brendan.
