ignition woes 200

I have a 1987 volvo 240 DL with a B230F engine in it. Driving back up to school recently, the engine started coughing about 45 miles from my destination. I kept the revs under 2000 rpm and she got me into town. But the car stalled on an uphill, and I had to have it towed.

It currently starts in neutral or park, the idle drops when its in gear, then when I put my foot on the gas pedal the engine dies.

I pulled the plugs (which I replaced back in December) and they are wet with fuel. Not soaked but damp, as if not completely combusting. I pulled the distributor cap and the contact in the center was stuck and the rotor was covered in grey powder, I assume from arcing. I replaced the distributor cap, rotor, spark plug wires, and coil wire. Still no change in the problem. The coil tests 1 ohm from the HT to LT. This is half the reading the Haynes manual suggests I should get.

Is my coil dead? Is there anything else to check? Am I completely going in the wrong direction? Help!
