87 Octane in '92 965...observations 900

So, after all that talk a while back about all y'all using 87 without any noticeable difference in your 960s, I decided I'd try it again now that gas prices are so high. I've run through three tankfulls of 87 so far and...it runs like crap on the cheap stuff! No power, crappy mileage, slow as a dog... I switched back to 91 today and voila, it runs beautifully. Tons of power, nice and fast and I'm assuming I'll get the same mileage I did before (26 highway, 20 city as opposed to 20 highway, 17 mixed). So, long story short, I'm going to just dish out the extra $100 a year (yeah, I figuted it out, that's all I'd save) and enjoy the way this engine was designed to run. Can't understand why mine is an odd-ball, but it is. It definately likes the finer things in life.
