timing off with distributor turned all the way to right, what gives? 200 1987

fellow bricksters,

As I suspected (I think), my brick's poor performance and gas economy was due to mistiming of the engine. I finally got a hold of a timing light and saw that the timing mark was to the right of 0 (as opposed to the left where the marks are). I've turned the distributor as far to the right as it will go and it ALMOST reaches 0, I'm not sure what is going on here and what needs to be done...... any help would be appreciated!
