Air shocks or NimoVats 200

My 1990 245 wagon is a bit low low in the rear end. I tried using the spring extenders and those caused suspension noises and seemed bad for the springs. So, I talked to offroadwarehouse about air shocks and they said none could be fitted on the Volvo.
Why?
Has anyone here tried to before?
What models and modifications are necessary. It sure seems the simplest solution to a dragging rear end.
