What rating oil in my 1980 245? 200 1980

I've heard various opinions regarding the rating oil you are suposed to use. Regarding Volvo's 4-cylinder engine, I've religiously used 10-30 weight in my wagon. Should I consider a different weight? Does it make any difference anyway? What are the advantages and disadvantages of different weights? Thanks!
