Why do my exhaust gaskets keep blowing every 17 months? 700

I have a 760 1989 Turbo Wagon.

I keep getting a leak every year and a half at the #1 (right at the back of the engine closest to the Cabin. I am sick of fixing this. I have a feeling something else is wrong. The Muffler needs replacement..it is old yet functional. Could it be that the fumes are not exhausting properly and the gasses are getting too hot hence burning out the gaskets? I am at a loss what to do. Its getting expensive. Last time in I asked the mechanic if the manifold was warped and he said it looked fine. Any suggestions are welcome!
