1984 Turbo 245 - boils water after turning off 200

My 1984 Turbo 245 boils water after even light running.
The temp gage reads above center, at about 3/4 (or almost 3/4).
Is this cause for alarm?
Might it be a bad thermostat?
Should I sell it and buy a Honda? (oooh, that was really bad!)
