m46od back in operation- followup 700 1988

Thanks to John, Bruce and Duane I got my overdrive back. It was in fact associated with the check valve that I had mistakenly uncapped when going for the filter. (It totally escaped me to check in Bentley's for the information on which cap to remove...)

Long story made short is that when the ball fell and rolled across the floor I was distracted and didn't notice the piece that normally fits against the ball (image) fall out. It held in place long enough for me to turn my attention away and then fell silently into the drain pan/fluid below it. When I poured the old fluid into the recycling container it lodged in the neck of the funnel. Duane sent me an image that showed all that was part of the check valve and I knew there had to be something missing and sure enough it was in the funnel.

Replaced the piece this morning and all is well. I will soon be going for the dreaded Ohio Echeck prior to getting this car registered and on the road.

Again thanks.

Randy
