Vibrating gas pedal 140-160 1973

Hi,

My rebuilt motor is fitted and running well on its temporary 40DCOEs (to run it in until the 45s arrive). However there is an unbelievably irritating vibration/rattle from where the accelerator rod slots into the pedal. This only happens when my foot is off the pedal and the car is slowing down on the engine.

Any suggestions for modifying the way the rod meets the pedal so it doesn't send me mad? Or is the vibration symptomatic of something else?
