Dear Brickmeisters:
I'm thinking ahead to when I will want to ditch the autobox on my 92 wagon and put in a stick. One major problem is going to be finding a flywheel with the crank sensor dimples. Not many late-model stick units here in South Texas. I did find an allegedly complete 1992 parts car--for $950!
Hmmmm. Suppose I
1. installed a distributor from an LH 2.2 car, one with a Hall sensor on the distributor
2. installed the cable from that sensor to the socket that receives the signal from the crank sensor
3. swapped out my ECU for the type that runs the LH 2.2 system.
Then I could use a flywheel from any stick parts car, yes?
Or are there other differences between the 2.2 and the 2.4 FI system?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
