When I bought my 86' 240GL wagon, the rear wiper was resting on the painted part of the hatch, below the glass. I took off the wiper arm and positioned it about 2-3 inches up on the glass. I noticed the splines in the shaft were stripped, but it seemed to tighten down enough to hold it. Now, when I turn on my rear wiper, the first thing it does is go down to the bottom of the glass and then wipes across the window. Am I missing something here? Do I need to re-position the motor or is it broken? Thanks!
