My son has a very nice 265DL with those gawd-awful composite plastic headlights and they are to the point of being useless. We've discussed changing the headlight assy's to either pre-85 DOT squares or really getting classy with a set of 1976 quad round lights and the early year trimmings. Now a question that has been rolling around in my head like a dust bunny concerns E-codes and availability. Ive never seen a 200 car with real E-codes so I wonder if they really exist or if Volvo just used those plastic junky lights that he presently has now. To be honest my Streamlight taped to the hood would do better at the moment, these things are just shot.
So my question is are real E-codes available for the 200's and if so were they unique to the car or are they the same as my E-codes used on my 760 turbo diesel? They look completly diffrent but maybe Im missing some brackets and trim if this was the case. I want him to go with the older round lights as they are in a class of their own but he doesn't want to make that jump just yet.
The car is cherry, (did I mention cherry?) and he spends his free time detailing it, cleaning and obsessing over dust particles despite his girlfriend saying it's clean already! Red over tan leather and black dashboard we added the red rubber cushions from a 242GT along with full instrumentation, lowered the car 2.5" and went with 235/50/15's on polycasts. So far no problems with the engine, clutch or tranny but we are working on the 100,000 mile badge and its going to take him a while!
Thanks in advance
