timing belt- when? 700 1988

My high school friend just brought his mom's 740 GLE over, it was making a funny noise. Could not find it. This car is amazing. It only has 65,000 miles. Super clean. I work on some 240's but not 740. When does an 88 need a new timing belt. Last time this car had any service was 4 years ago at 46,000 at the stealership.
