740 AW Auto Trans Problem - Need Kind Help 700

On 1991 740GL S/W with an AW auto trans, the trans will not shift into 4th gear; the overdrive switch and dash light indicator do not work; following guidance, replaed overdrive relay but no change. Do not think that there is any problem with wiring to solonoid switch on transmission. Is there a way to check the solonoid? Is there anything else to checkto fix this? Heartfelt thanks. Larry.
