I'm planning, as a future project, to replace the rear wheel bearings in my 1982 245 wagon. My main source for information when I decided to take this on was my old Haynes manual, which indicates that the original design called for separate pieces: outer seal, bearing, inner seal. So, when the parts arrived at my local parts house I was a little surprised to find that the bearings and outer seal came as a cartridge, with the inner seal still separate. I'm guessing that the cartridge design is an improvement over the original. Seems like a neat package to me.

The bearings appear to be lightly lubricated with a light-colored grease, I'm thinking that it might be lithium grease. When I install them I'll want them packed well with the best grease, and I am planning to use a molybdenum product. My question now is this: Do I need to be concerned with a possible imcompatibility between what came packed from the factory (minimal) and what I want to add to it? I've read of unwise mixing of grease causing total lubrication breakdown. As much fun as this job promises to be, I would rather not have to do it twice. Again, thanks for all your help!
