So yesterday I was driving back from a 150 mile roadtrip in my 1987 744ti with 235k on the clock. I was happy as the car made the trip with no problems at all. After getting home at about 4:00 PM I parked the car and it sat until about 8:00PM when I decided to go to the store. I got in the car and drove out of the driveway and a few hundred feet up the street i noticed that the tranny wasnt shifting. It wouldnt come out of first gear at all even up to 4000 RPMs. I pared the car and got a ride to work today, now that Im home im trying to figure out what the problem is. I looked at the kick-down cable and it had approx. 1 inch of slack on it so I adjusted it per the specs in the 700/900FAQ but this didnt help alleviate the problem. Any ideas? And BTW there is plenty of fluid in the tranny but its is dirty as hell, to my knowledge there hasnt been a tranny flush in this car for at least 50k miles. Im actually afraid to do one because of the bad experiences ive heard about people having with fluid flushes on high mileage AW71's. Again any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
