I made a previous post earlier today regarding the problems ive had today and yesterday with my 87 744ti. After returning from a short road trip and parking it for a few hours I went to drive it again and it wouldnt shift at all. Parked it overnight and today I adjusted the kickdown cable and still nothing. However after letting it idle until reaching operating temps and it ran fine. Fine however is a subjective term. Fine is in comparison to not shifting at all. I dont know if its in my head but it seems like when going into boost i have far less power than i remember and im also getting a pretty bad driveline vibration when accelerating hard and slowing down, but i think this problem might be unrelated. The car has 234k on the clock and hasnt had a tranny fluid change in the last 20k since ive owned the car and would guess it had been awhile since i bought it. Any ideas? The other thing is that im not sure if this will be a situation where I will just have to cut my losses and get rid of the car if it turns out to need a new tranny. Being a student and seeing as I paid 1350.00 for the car and it needs numerous other things(i.e body work wiring harness etc...) im not sure where the point of diminishing return lies. Ive put hundreds of $$ into it lately including heater core, motor mounts, water pump exhaust etc etc etc... not only the money ive put into it but the blood sweat and tears. Before this turns into a rant, thanks for any help in advance.
