Shifter clicking noise in reverse 200 1989

Hi, everyone,
I'm very concerned by the clicking noise coming from my shifter when in reverse gear. I can feel the clicking, too. Is this an indication that there is a problem with the transmission? Normal drive is fine, and there are no other symptoms. Any feedback, suggestions? Please help.
