Rear door that will not open 700 1987

Greetings,
I have an 87 745 GLE and I cannot open the passenger rear door. The doorlock plunger does not feel real positive going up or down and the inside and outside door releases don't do anything. Does anyone know how to go about getting a door open like this. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
