Clean, clean, clean---idle air control valve---idle much improved 700 1990

After a partial cleaning of the IAC valve my car still had a rough cold start idle until warm. I took it out again and cleaned and cleaned with carb/throttle body cleaner and kept cleaning even though I thought it couldn't get any cleaner. Reinstalled it and next morning idle smoothed out. The moral of the story, keep cleaning it even when you think it is already clean.
