BW 35 to m410 conversion 140-160

I intended to convert my 1974 144GL from the Borg Warner 35 3-speed(yeck!)to the beefy m410 4-speed transmission with "J" type overdrive that came on 1970 1800's and a few 164's. I soon found out that the input shaft and bellhousing were incompatible. Yet I already had purchased the gearbox. I looked everywhere for a bellhousing to no avail. I got varying advice about custom clutch plates and shimming bellhousings ... etc. I was ever so fortunate to hear from Eric Hamlet in California who has a shop specializing in "old bricks". I got a bellhousing and input shaft and all the other bits I didn't even know I would need, as well as a wellspring of advice. Thanks Eric.
