Transmission Removal, How High Should the Car Be? 900

Duplicate post, I inadvertently posted this under “all” and "all" has limited viewers.

I have about 17” from the bottom of the transmission bell housing to the floor. The car’s back end is about 8” higher than the front end. I think the front end should be higher. If I add a 4X4 spacer between the jack and the front jacking point I can get the front up another 4” and then lower the rear a little. The tranny jack is about 7" high. Is this high enough?

On my third attempt (on the third car), to remove the filler tube, I wedged a 4X4 betwixt a crescent wrench and the frame then used a small jack to encourage the filler tube nut to turn. It fought back all the way. The last three turns took two of us pulling the wrench using a bar through the combination wrench’s closed end.
