Interior door handle removal 200

Gentlemen,

I am working on restoring the interior of my 1990 240 and have come to an impasse... how do I remove the interior door handle and plastic cup behind it? The removal of the cup is obvious, but the plastic handle part is not so. Can you pry it off? Do you have to disassemble the handle from the pivot screw -which looks like it is rivited/fastened to the handle linkage? Tell me there is an easy way!

I am painting the arm rests and other associated plastic door parts with that Krylon paint for plastics. Everything is going well outside the cup and inner door handle.

We will not mention the aweful body work I discovered from the inside of the doors, a corresponding need to replace both the doors on the passanger side, the ghetto installed speakers by a hack which necessitates all new door panels, and the lack of moisture barriers on the drivers side which contributed to door panel rot... fucking kook of a previous owner and shitty, cheap-ass body shops... excuse my vent!

Any help with my handle issue will be greatly appreciated!!! Peace, Jon
