55 amp alternator on TURBO.....Why? 200 1983

Does anyone know why Volvo used the 55amp instead of the 70amp on the N\A cars?

Do you think they used it to get a higher peak H.P. rating? Just curious.

Also is the 55amp the same dimension as the 70amp? I have a 70amp and was wondering if it's a direct replacement?
