Engine stalls when warmed up . . . 200

My 1988 240dl starts beautifully and drives great for a couple miles till it warms up and then it starts to stall, even upon acceleration. It always starts easily again but then stalls shortly after. The mechanic says that's odd that it stalls when warm, but not when cold. Any ideas? Thanks, Fred
