Went to Sears and bought:
- A cheapass (but adequate) floor jack - $40
- 3.5ton jackstands - $20/pair
- A 1/2" driver to replace my broken one - $20
- 17mm and 22mm deep 6-point sockets - $12
Also bought a length of threaded rod, some nuts and washers for $3
at the hardware store to push in the 2-part poly axle bushings.
So far, I've removed the right trailing arm, right torque rod, and
the Panhard rod. The bushings are getting pressed in as we speak and
will cost $80 for all 8 of them. The center part of the big axle
bushing on the right side popped right out, along with most of the
rubber. This is the kind of job that gets easier the longer you
neglect it. :) I used a propane torch to burn out the remaining
rubber, and a small homemade press to push the poly bushings into
the tube.
I was surprised that all of the suspension bolts has no rust on them,
except for minor surface rust on the heads. Volvo uses some good
quality hardware, it looks like.
Total cost so far: $175 for tools and pressing + $133 for the
bushings = $308 - not bad, since I get to keep the tools.
