Where does this part go that came w/Rear main seal kit 200 1982

posted by  someone claiming to be Vovolishiz on  Thu Apr 15 05:02 CST 2004 [RELATED]

Rear main seal kit came with main seal, seal retainer gasket, and soft white sponge like ring about 3/16" thick with same inside diameter as seal but outside dia. is smaller making the ring width about 1/4" wide. Where does this go?
