Piston Slap, Valves, or Rod Knocking 700 1990

About a month ago my '90 760T with 92,000 started making a bit more noise. I've read about piston slap. How can one tell if it piston slap, or the valves, or a rod knocking? Any expert noise diagnostics would be helpful.
