Oil Leak - Erratic 200 1986

I have a really bad off and on oil leak that is driving me nuts. The car is a 1986 240 with 240,000 miles that runs great.

My mechanic recently replaced the flame arrestor (aka pcv valve), but the problem continues.

The oil seems to be everywhere, it appears to be blowing out of the oil filler cap and is all over the top of the water pump. Additionally, this seems to happen sometimes and then not happen for a while. I developed a habit of looking under the car after I have been parked (either for 5 minutes or a couple of days) sometimes there is a oil puddle, sometimes not.

I would appreciate any advice. I want to keep this car.
