561 ECU swap for 571 200 1989

The subject patient is a 1989 245 with M47. No negative symptoms, but it was sporting the dreaded pink label 561. This is a $200 car that is my daily driver. It has over 200K on the odometer, and ain't a beauty contest winner, but is reliable. Maintenance is moderate, and certainly far from fanatic (tune-ups somewhat regularly, oil changes 3000-5000 miles, and eventually fix things that go clunk or get big holes in them). Bob Haire posted a brief experiment he conducted replacing the 561 with a 571. It seemed to work. I tested it further.

Bought me a 571 from an early 90's 940 on eBay for $28, shipping and insurance included. Plugged it in, and drove. Two months and about 2700 miles later, car seems to drive just about the same. I am not intimately in touch with my Brick's responsiveness, power, torque, or bhp, but it runs like it did. I drive under a great variety of conditions almost daily, with everything from interstate runs to travel on dirt roads whose condition make tie rod ends and ball joints annual replacement items. The only difference I noticed is that the upshift arrow doesn't work anymore, which I count as a positive enhancement. Always hated that bugger. Any questions, class?
