Brands of synthetic oil 900 1992

Is there really a big difference between brands of synthetic oil? If so, I presume Mobil 1 is the best? or are there others that you guys would recommend?

How about the "new" Valvolene for older engines?

I have a 1992 960 Wagon (965) with 161,000 miles on it
