My 86 240 with 230,000 miles has developed a recent quirk.

Occasionally, after running fine, I get very low power, barely able to move. The exhaust system appears to be smoking. I shut the engine off, then almost immediately start it back up, and it runs fine.

Any advice would be appreciated.
