B234 16 valve replaced by 8 valve?? 900 1991

Is it possible to change 16 valve engine by 8 valve engine? What modifications I must do if this is possible. The car is 1991 940 GLT stw with B234F 16 valve engine and Aisin Warner 4-speed automatic.
