The AW-71 transmission on my 1993 945 turbo is having difficulty shifting into overdrive. I've replaced the relay, solenoid and downshift cable. I've flushed the fluid multiple times and tried synthetic "blend" fluid. The transmission shop measured the "line pressures" and say they're fine, but the problem persists. The shop thinks it's a problem in the valve body. A friend of mine has a transmission from a 740 non-turbo that he'll give me. Will this transmission mount and function correctly in the 940 turbo (I don't drive it really hard-rural community) even for a few weeks? I'm a pretty fair shadetree mechanic, but have never had an automatic transmission apart. Are "rebuild" kits available for this defective transmission? Do you think it'll solve the problem? Is rebuilding this transmission something that I can do myself? I don't mind buying a few hand tools (after all, that's one of the benefits of doing it yourself-aquiring more tools) but don't want to get in over my head (it's embarrassing to haul a wheelbarrow full of parts into the repair shop and ask them to fix it). What brand/source of transmission jack is good, without being too expensive? Thanks for the help.
