Just washed/waxed the [close to] free 212k mile 240 I got from a neighbor. He got an estimate from the local stealer for $1600+ to rebuild front/rear suspension and gave me the car in exchange for a brake job on his 850 Turbo (he paid parts, I did labor). Aafter the dealer gave him the $1600 estimate, they walked him out to the showroom to show him all the new Volvos that $1600 would be a good downpayment for! Turns out the clunk in the front end was a worn inner tie rod and loose front wheel bearings - rest of the suspension looks just fine. Interior and exterior are like new and he had service history since new - 3500 oil/filter changes, new brakes, new tires, etc, etc. Car even has power windows and cruise control - and they work!
