Temp Gauge Fluctuating? 900

Today I notice my temperature gauge was jumping from normal (50%) to about 25% and back. This happend several time in the minute or so the I was watching. The car was up to temperature and I was crusing on the highway when it happened. Is the temp sensor failing? Anyone else seen this before?
