A/C 700

Hi,

My 740T is diagnosed with freon leak around the heater core. The local dealer converted the system and found the leak afterword, and request $1600 to do the repair. This is a very labor intensive job, they explained, and requires taking the entire dashboard out before the actual repair can performed.

I checked on parts and found them to cost less than $100. My question: is it really necessary to tear the entire dashboard to see the leak and repair it. I should be able to do the repair, but worried about the intricate components and controls around that area. Any thoughts, tips will be appreciated.
