I live near Seattle, and Boeing has a surplus store where they sell unneeded items. They also have a 'free wood' yard. Since I'm also a woodworker, occasionaly I drive by to see what wood is available. A few weeks ago, I hit the jackpot! There happened to be some sheets of plywood - but not ordinary plywood. This was 1 1/8" thick, and 4'x10', not the normal 4'x8'. I don't know what Boeing used that for. Other people were taking some, but I didn't have my roof racks on the car, and it wouldn't fit inside my wagon. So I had to drive home to get the racks, hoping there would be some left when I returned. Well, there was, and I decided to take three sheets. I had to get someone to help me load them, because they were HEAVY. I was somewhat concerned that I might overload the rain gutters, but went ahead anyway. Here's how the car looked when loaded.


I was curious as to how much each sheet weighed, so when I unloaded them, I balanced one on my bathroom scale. 151 pounds! So my brick was carring 453 pounds on the roof rack. Pretty amazing. What a great car - such versatility. I love it.
