[I realize a call for a part isn't really "proper use" of the forum, but I'm up a creek here.]
Today I was cruising down the highway in heavy traffic when I slammed into a LARGE rock (think 3-4 softballs together) doing about 75mph. Rice burner in front of me dodged it at the last second and I didn't see it given how tight it was (jersey barrier tightness). It sounded like someone detonated a grenade under my car.
Needless to say the Nova rim that hit the rock (front drivers) is toast; the alloys don't do well with small impacts, and this was huuuuge. Rim is dented up 2" on the impact side, tire is toast.
So I was wondering, does anyone in my area (I'm outside NYC, CT side) have a parts car with a Nova rim they could sell me cheap (Novas are the 10 straight spoke 15" rim)? The problem is that even if the junker near me has one (highly unlikely) I'm not really able to drop the $100+ he'll ask for it (and god knows I can't pay Volvo's price on one of these suckers). I can use an old steel rim I have lying around in the interim, but I'd like to keep the alloy set on all four corners if possible.
BTW, I'll happily buy more than one if possible, but I'll take whatever I can get. I'm willing to drive to pick-up the rim(s) if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Best,
rt
