Engine Dies 900 1995

I just bought a used 1995 940 sedan with 69,000 miles. Twice now when I put on the brake and come to a complete stop, my engine dies. When I start it again, it starts right up! My mechanic says it could be due to lots of things and he has no idea. Any ideas out there? Thanks so much!
