wheel bearings? 900 1995

940 non turbo year 95

Took my vehicle for alignment.Serviceman told me he could not do it because the wheel is not firm. I took the car back, jacked it up and tried to rock the wheel but wheel is not that rocky.

Turning the wheel produce slight humming sound but not noticeable when on the road.

Is it a sign that wheel bearings are going south or could it be the wheel pivot nut that has loosen. How do I know which is which?

Thanks guys for the advice and instructions that may go with it.
