Thanks, Lucid, from earlier, and one more question. How interchangable are voltage regulators?
My 90 740 GL came with an 80 amp, a few years ago I replaced the whole alt with one from a parts yard, it was a Volvo app and it was 100 amp.
It's been working fine but now the brushes have worn out.
Is it OK to use the 80 amp app reg in the 100 amp alternator?
The size and configuration are the same on each unit, held side by side they look the same.
