Regular or Type-F in the P.S. on the 94 960? 900

I ask this question since the low speed groan when turning is becoming more frequent. The 92 calls for type-F and the 94 calls for quality ATF.
The 92 hardly ever groans and with a visual check the pump and rack look indentical on both.I have done flush's a couple times on both systems so the fluid is clean.
Can I put type-F in the 94?How about by-passing part of that cooling loop that goes under the car,I dont have to do a lot of city driving, therefore, alot of steering at idle speeds. It seems the cooling loop could create a restriction causing the pump to work much harder,IMHO. Thanks, dave
