Looking at buying my second PV544 and a question has popped up. My '62 had a 4 speed gearbox. This "new" one is supposed to have a 4 speed too (have not driven yet). According to a VIN decoder I found on the net this cars model type (P-54409A) is a Sport USA B16B with a 3 speed gear box. How can I determine the accuracy of the VIN decoder or find out if the transmission had been changed at some point? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
