plastic heater water control valve 700 1991

It is time for my annual maintenance which includes replacement of all fluids. I thought I would also replace the original, 13-year old heater control valve and the heater hoses. I replaced the original radiator with plastic side tanks last year.

I just bought the replacement heater water control valve from my Volvo dealer....this genuine Volvo valve is all-plastic....I just can't see myself replacing the original, which looks much more rugged and durable, with this all-plastic valve. Does anyone have experience with this all-plastic valve?
