Tip for changing Engine coolant temp sensor 700 1985

Last week I changed my engine coolant temperature sensor on my 740 Turbo, and I was worried it would be hard to do. Here is a tip for changing it. If you put your right elbow just to the right of the alternator and reach under and behind the throttle body, you can easily unplug the connector. Then I used a 3/4 inch 12 point socket wrench and a bunch of extentions with a swivel in the middle. The wrench extended over to the wheel well. It came out very easily, and the fit using a 3/4 socket was such that I could use it to install the new one without the socket breaking the plastic part. It turned out to be a very easy job doing it this way.

I was doing it while changing my thermostat which failed and I have another trick for that. I stick some model airplane silicone fuel tubing down the drain hole in the coolant reservoir. Then I pump out about a gallon of coolant using a fuel pump (cost about $10). You don't spill a drop and can easily change the thermostat on a B230FT engine in a few minutes. Then I just pour the coolant back in. I would have just replaced the coolant but it was replace not long ago.
